The goal of this strategic objective is to contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural transformation and build resilient food and nutrition systems that benefit people, nature and promote economic growth.

The Directorate of Climate Smart-Agricultural Transformation and Food Security (CSAT&FS) serves as the focal arm of Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy and PI-CREF responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing interventions that strengthen food systems, enhance agricultural productivity, resilience, nutrition, and ensure sustainable access to food in Sierra Leone. The Directorate contributes directly to national goals under the MTNDP 2024-2030, the Feed Salone Strategy, and Sierra Leone’s international commitments to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The Directorate plays a catalytic and facilitative role in advancing national food security and agricultural transformation goals. Rather than duplicating the work of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), its mandate is to support, complement, and strengthen their capacities, coordination, and delivery mechanisms.

In essence, the CSAT&FS Directorate of PI-CREF functions as a strategic enabler: mobilizing resources, aligning policy, fostering innovation, facilitating private sector investments and coordinating across government to ensure the Ministry of Agriculture and partner MDAs achieve their mandates under the MTNDP 2024-2030, the Feed Salone strategy, and Sierra Leone’s international climate change commitments.
