Clean Cooking
The Clean Cooking Initiative, driven by the Clean Cooking Delivery Unit (CCDU) within PICREF - aims to accelerates the national transition from traditional biomass fuels to clean, modern, and affordable cooking solutions—safeguarding public health, driving climate resilience, and empowering communities across the country.
The Clean Cooking Delivery Unit (CCDU) serves as Sierra Leone’s national hub for clean cooking coordination, policy alignment, and investment facilitation. Established under PI-CREF in the Office of the President, the CCDU was created to lead the execution of Sierra Leone’s National Clean Cooking Strategy (NCCS) 2025–2035.
The Unit operates in strategic partnership with the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) as part of its global Delivery Units Network. Sierra Leone was selected among the inaugural cohort of host countries, placing top local talent at the highest levels of government to eliminate regulatory bottlenecks and unlock capital. Under the leadership of Ms. Aminata Wurie, Head of the CCDU, the Unit bridges the gap between high-level policy design and practical implementation, uniting key government ministries, private-sector leaders, and international partners to place Sierra Leone at the forefront of the regional clean cooking movement.
