Conakry, June 14th, 2025: – Under the direction of His Excellency President Bio, Sierra Leone has signed a 10 MW Power Purchase Agreement with the Republic of Guinea – a neighbouring country and member of the Mano River Union (MRU) to add to its current generation capacity following the reduction in supply from the Turkish Karpowership. At the signing ceremony, Sierra Leone was represented by Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Energy Sector Lead and Chairman of the Energy Governance Coordination Group (EGCG) and Guinea’s Minister of Energy, Hydropower and Hydrocarbons, Aboubacar Camara.

The strategic partnership with Guinea brings in additional 10-megawatt (MW) base-load supply of electricity to Freetown supports a critical pillar of Mission 300; a continental strategy that promotes cross‑border energy trade in order to improve resource utilization and create new markets across Africa.
