The Dodo/Goma Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in Simbaru/Dodo Chiefdom in Eastern Province, Sierra Leone, was originally commissioned in 1986 with a capacity of 4 megawatts (MW) and expanded to 6 MW in 2007.
The 15.4 megawatt (MW) Moyamba small hydropower plant (SHPP) project is part of the government’s plans to strengthen the power sector. The Moyamba plant will use the hydraulic potential of the River Gbangba for power generation.
The Bumbuna-1 hydropower plant (commissioned in November 2009), initially designed with a 200 megawatt (MW) capacity, but implemented with a capacity of just 50 MW, is critical to Sierra Leone’s energy infrastructure.
